Getting A Tan
Recent studies have shown that more and more Americans are heading indoors to tan. In fact according to an article from “Indoor Tanning”, an estimated 30 million North Americans – 65% to 70% of them women –frequented tanning salons in the past several years. In fact those same studies have shown that once indoor tanning customers begin tanning in a professional salon, they are less likely to sunburn than they were before they started tanning. Furthermore, The International Smart Tan Network, studies have also shown that indoor tanners are less likely to sunburn outdoors as compared to non-tanners.
According to the web site www.easy-tanning.com:
“Sun exposure in moderate amount is essential to the body as it helps in the formation of Vitamin D- the sunshine vitamin. In fact, sunshine is absolutely essential for the production of Vitamin D. If this vitamin is not produced, the absorption of calcium is hampered which in turn leads to bone disorders.”
The article continues, saying:
“Some amount of UV exposure is necessary for the body as during exposure to the sun, it tans automatically. Tanning is actually a defense mechanism of the body. A body which has not been tanned can not protect itself against the harmful rays of the sun. So, tanning in some amounts is actually beneficial to the body.”
